Product Description

What is soil pH?
Soil pH is a measure of the acidity or basicity (alkalinity) of a soil. Soil pH is considered a master variable in soils as it affects many chemical processes. It specifically affects plant nutrient availability by controlling the chemical forms of the different nutrients and influencing the chemical reactions they undergo. The optimum pH range for most plants is between 5.5 and 7.5.

The Impact of Soil pH on Soil Microorganisms:
Soil pH plays a pivotal role in influencing the types and abundance of soil microorganisms. In acidic soils, certain acidophilic microorganisms thrive, whereas in alkaline soils, alkaliphilic microorganisms become more prominent. The diversity and quantity of these microorganisms significantly affect the transformation and supply of soil nutrients, consequently influencing the growth and development of plants.

Soil pH Affects Plant Nutrient Absorption:
In acidic soils, some mineral elements such as phosphorus and iron may become unavailable, while in alkaline soils, certain trace elements like magnesium and calcium might become less accessible. Therefore, maintaining an appropriate pH level is crucial to ensure plants achieve a balanced absorption of various nutritional elements.

Soil pH Influences Plant Root Development:
In acidic soils, plant roots may be susceptible to aluminum toxicity, while in alkaline soils, the absorption capacity of roots may decrease. Thus, maintaining an optimal pH level promotes the healthy growth of roots and enhances the plant’s resistance to environmental stressors.

Step 1: Collect a representative soil sample
Use a garden spade to dig a small hole (approximately 15 cm deep) and gather the soil sample from around the hole. Place this sample in a container. Repeat this process three times or more across your garden site. Thoroughly mix these soil samples and remove any stones, grass, etc.

Step 2: Prepare soil-water solution
Putting the mixed soil sample into centrifuge tube, to 20ml scale, add distilled water (or purified / pure water, not mineral water) until the liquid level reaches 40ml scale. Close the lid of centrifuge tube, then shake the tube 30 seconds, make the soil sample & distilled water(or purified / pure water, not mineral water) mixing well. Set aside and let stand for 30-60 minutes, or longer, until the supernatant (soil water solution) is obtained.

Step 3: Use the pH test strips
Place 1-2 pieces of pH test strips flat, draw up a small amount of soil-water solution using a dropper, and dispense one drop on each color pad of the pH test strip. Allow approximately 2-4 minutes for the pH test strip to fully react with the soil-water solution.

Step 4: Match color pads to color chart
Depending on the soil pH, one or two color pads will undergo a color change. Compare the resulting color(s) with the color chart provided with the pH test strips to determine the pH value of your soil.

🌱【Ready-to-Use with Just Pure Water】Our soil testing kit arrives fully equipped with every component necessary for conducting thorough tests. Upon receiving your kit, all you need to do is pick up a bottle of pure or purified water from your local store or supermarket, making it incredibly straightforward for users to get started.
🌹【Tailored for Soil pH Measurement】Soil pH is very important for plants. It controls the way nutrients are chemically formed in the soil. Additionally, it affects the chemical reactions these nutrients undergo, which determines how available they are to the plants.
🌿【User-Friendly】Included with your kit is a quick-start guide featuring comprehensive instructions for use. Additionally, the kit contains test tubes and droppers, facilitating easy solution preparation and pH testing.
🌼【Quality Assurance & Ample Supply】The pH test strips are securely stored in a plastic bottle to ensure they remain dry and maintain consistent quality. With enough test strips for 200 soil pH tests, you’ll be well-stocked for extensive soil analysis.
🌲【Comprehensive Range & Fine Scale】For most plants, the optimal soil pH range lies between 5.5 and 7.5. Our soil pH test strips feature a colour range spanning from 4.5 to 9.0, making them suitable for nearly all garden soil types. With a minimum scale increment of 0.25, you can achieve highly accurate pH measurements.
